Rick Weiland is coming to town! The Brown County Democratic Forum will have Weiland over for lunch on Friday, December 11, at Pizza Ranch in Aberdeen. Weiland will talk about the success of his new organization, TakeItBack.org, in promoting ballot initiatives to challenge corruption in South Dakota government, including the Anti-Corruption Act and the open non-partisan primary proposal that he and his colleagues crafted for South Dakota voters.

I’d like to say “success at placing the Anti-Corruption Act and open non-partisan primary on the ballot,” but I can’t say that yet. Weiland’s friends in South Dakotans for Ethics Reform submitted over 25,000 signatures for the Anti-Corruption Act on November 6; Weiland and partner in democracy Drey Samuelson drove to Pierre themselves to submit 39,000 signatures for the open non-partisan primary constitutional amendment on November 9. Both signature counts are enough to qualify, but Secretary of State Shantel Krebs has not yet certified either of those petitions or any of the six other ballot measure petitions that came to her office during that first week of November. Christmas is coming, Secretary Krebs! Let’s get some certified ballot measures under the tree!

But hey, Brown County neighbors, come to Pizza Ranch Friday (get chow at 11:30, hear Rick at noon) and learn about how we can take South Dakota government back from the partisan thieves in charge with effective petitioning and ballot measures.

GOP stole an election in Bush v. Gore.

SDGOP stole an election from Weiland in 2014.

the public still hasn’t been informed of EB5 fraud by SDGOP.

Dems clean up Republican messes. Imagine what progress would occur if Dem policy could pull free of republican ankle biters. take it back, rick!!

Weiland didn’t have an election stolen from him. He took well under than 40% of the vote.

“Stolen” is approaching conspiracy theory land

I agree with Rorschach. I see no sign of a stolen election. Rick Weiland’s 29.5% resulted from cash disadvantage, hesitance to wage a full-scale negative campaign to destroy Mike Rounds, traditional GOP strength, lack of synergy with other Democratic candidates, and anti-Obama baloney that Dems didn’t fight against hard enough (see my November 5, 2014, assessment). The GOP didn’t need to steal that election.

The Democrat who challenges Thune will do better, if that Democrat heeds the lessons of 2014. That Democrat may also boost turnout and votes by synergizing with the political reform ballot measures Weiland is promoting

The (unpausable) video on the TakeItBack website shows somebody throwing $100 bills on the US Constitution, presumably to arouse our disgust. It’s worth noting, tho, that the person doing this is wearing cuff links, a sign of affluence especially out here in little ol’ South Dakota. Mixed message? Mixed media? Hmmm …..

    Think about it Whither

Ain’t no Democrat going to beat Thune in South Dakota. Tim Johnson is retired. The only other comer would be Stephanie H-S, and she’s risk averse. But that would be a good campaign to watch if it happened!

You know, Whither, I watched that video and couldn’t figure out why the guy is stamping hundred-dollar bills “FOR SALE.” Who sells hundred-dollar bills? Shouldn’t Cufflinks be stamping that on the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution?

No Democrat? No? I can’t accept that inevitability. There’s someone out there besides SHS who could unseat Thune. There are multiple someones. There are always possibilities.

The EB5 time line post-benda death to pre-election clearly shows SDGOP hid the ball in conspiracy fashion.

had that bad press and duffy’s solo attempt to plumb to the depths of a complex fraud become clear; weiland’s rapidly increasing numbers as, for example, a result of Rachel Maddow et al. jumping on the bandwagon in the last weeks, would have occurred.

what prevented this was a SDGOP team push to submerge evidence and remove controversy raised by tyler, weiland, cory and others. Theft and fraud are hall marks of rounds and daugaard’s administrations, and state-wide republicans.

harsh words. more accurate than 29.5%.

my dad wore cufflinks and operated many a caterpillar.
