Want Fairness for Female Athletes? Fight Sexist Ideologies, Media Coverage Tilted Toward Men, Pay Inequity…

Since it’s really easy to get distracted in The Kristi for Kristi Show, let’s remind ourselves of the core issue at stake in the confusingly and unconstitutionally vetoed House Bill 1217. The Governor says she wants to ban transgender girls from school sports teams to ensure fairness for female athletes. But if Governor Noem were really trying to defend the spirit of Title IX

“Title IX protects all students — including those who are transgender — from discrimination based on sex,” Jett Jonelis, ACLU of South Dakota’s advocacy manager, said in a statement Monday. “If Gov. Noem really wanted to protect fairness in women’s sports, she would tackle the actual threats to women’s sports such as severe underfunding, lack of media coverage, sexist ideologies that suggest that women and girls are weak, and pay equity for coaches. This coalition is clearly fueled by a fear and misunderstanding of transgender people” [Abby Wargo, “Gov. Noem Announces Plan for New Coalition After Declining to Sign Trans Sport Bill,” Rapid City Journal, updated 2021.03.23].

As even Noem’s conservative boosters are now learning, words from Kristi Noem’s mouth rarely mean what dictionaries and good sense would tell us those words mean. Noem is fighting for attention for herself, not fairness for any other females. Girls and women face enough challenges without Kristi Noem’s exploiting them.

I’d like to admire the rainbow of white athletes shown with a wasicu wastey guv. Noem’s vision of protecting girls in sports must include keeping girls of color away from whitey.

Noem, apparently, hasn’t kept up with what the professional right has been doing regarding Title IX. Women are affected by sexual harassment and assault on college campuses and in high schools, and that can be a factor in preventing equal educational opportunity. The professional right for years have wanted to push addressing sexual assaults on campus out of Title IX regulation. It’s part of the Republican platform. Does Noem agree with that?

Certain conservative groups have never liked equality for girls and women’s sports, thinking that girls’/women’s sports hinders male sports. They have pressed in various ways to hinder the reach of Title IX. Republicans have fell in line, seeking to defund girls sports, rather than assure fairness in such matters. Does Noem support that?

Yes, sports for females need to be defended—from Republicans.

Somebody should keep tabs on those poor girls being used as photo op filler and give them a call in a few years to see how being a pawn in a sociopath’s PR stunt impacted their psyche.

Republicans really do not like freedom for anyone but their pale white asses. LEAVE TRANSGENDERS ALONE. This is such a non-issue for female sports athletes. I think ‘pubs really need to start practicing their Christianity and to accept and love everyone and quit worrying about what people’s genitals look like. As the quote says ‘What would Jesus do?’. Jesus would not discriminate and would be hurt by all the hate bills his fellow Christians stir up every year.
As this becomes a national issue, mental health rates for the LGBTQ will continue to skyrocket. All they want is acceptance in a supposedly free society.
Most girls in high school sports today could care less if a transgender is on the court with them. They probably welcome the competition. Gen Z is very very staunchly pro-LGBTQ. So get over it, ‘pubs. You are going to lose this one.

You know the Republicans are attempting to pass laws on voting and transgender that address problems that do not exist. What can one say, they aren’t King Canute, they think they can hold back the tide that will engulf them, tick tock, tick tock.

well…the girls seem to be wondering why the were asked to stand next to the governor…they seem to be thinking “boy, I hope they don’t ask me to say anything” Knowing teen age girls and their affinity for the underdog, my bet is they are quite ambiguous and, perhaps, even antagonistic, to the
    governor’s position…know your audience Kristi

Golly America’s Governor aka noemie, now the defender of female genitals as she would not want her trumper to be surprised when he does his grabbing. Dang I digress, it happens when noemie and trumper are in same sentence.
The GOP is seeking hot button issues to gin up for the 2022 election cycle. Transgender could be 1 so it is being test ran in various Red states. South Dakota with its inbred 1 party ruling legislators and a nitwit for a Governor the test was run and done. America’s Governor aka noemie didn’t read or more likely did understand the script. Her Washington lobby handlers didn’t read the style and form law like a South Dakotan, more like a Republican carpetbagger… trafficking fake and fiction positions.
The America’s Governor aka noemie Now Coalition for Title IX something or another will fade in the coming months. She pinned her belt buckle between a tweet and reality, then propped a few young ladies for something or another.
In November 2022 we can put this clown show to pasture along with RINO Thune and WWDTD (what would de trump do) Johnson.

HHeidenvamp said on B Maher that google having second thoughts now coming to SD good job is all I can say
Way to hold the ground on fairness to woman (not) fairness w b decisions to chose in this state

Sorry I meant Amazon not google

grudznick likes sports. Good sports, not boring ones. Capitalism will drive what sports are successful. Those people want to watch will make money. Those that are boring will have to languish with little funding or audiences. This is the way it is. You see mobs of raving fans at college football games even for the lowly Hardrockers, but at the chess tournies and debate throw-downs, not so much. People need to come to grips with this reality and hit the weightroom.

I wonder if any of those girls standing there ever met the person this bill may just affect oh I guess no one actually have been talking to the transgender…..even if they camp out in front of capitol trying to get meeting w gnome …., true story ,,she won’t meet w them

Humm. “Biden’s policy protecting students from discrimination likely signals that the administration will announce that Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination at federally funded institutions, protects the rights of students based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Shortly before the Trump administration left office in January, the Education Department’s Office of the General Counsel published a memorandum saying LGBTQ students are not protected under Title IX.”

The ‘pubs will lose this hatred of trangenders war they’ve created when this eventually gets taken to the US Supreme Court. Title IX will be amended to include gender identity/LGBTQ.

Anyone else hearing how this pic was actually taken fir something else and she used it for this wo students permission??

Weinstein says he has spoken to the Hudson City School District; officials told him that they had not given permission for the website to use images of their students or their logos.

The school district also confirmed this in an email to KELOLAND News:

“The photos/images being used by the South Dakota Governor’s “Defend Title IX Now” coalition and its affiliates were scrubbed from the internet without consent. The purpose of our students being photographed during competition is to honor our high school players as student athletes and to celebrate their accomplishments. We do not condone the images being used for any other purpose. Neither our school district, nor our student athletes, who are minors, are associated with the South Dakota Governor’s initiative.“

“Our District logo, name, and school colors are clearly visible, which reflects our trademarked brand and the misuse of that brand.“

“The Hudson City School District strongly objects to these photos being used by the South Dakota Governor’s Coalition in a political endeavor. Our district attorney and our State Representative have asked the South Dakota Governor’s Office and its coalition host website to remove the photos of these children, our students, from their website.“

Trumpies just think they can get away with anything.

  20. You know grudz, soccer is the most popular sport on the planet, I prefer tennis, I know thats an elite sport but I don’t care. I guess capitalism has made soccer numero uno. I also love college football much more than pro ball, again its just my preference. I like womens college basketball more than men’s, whos to tell me better? I don’t fiive a funk. I have always preferred DC over Marvel because I’m old enough to know they ripped off every DC creation six months after. Its capitalism in action.

  21. o

Mark, the Fantastic Four still stands as the greatest comic – purely an original for Marvel (and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise). On-topic, the evolution of the Invisible Girl/Woman is a cultural evolution history lesson on the roles and views of women, femininity, sexism, and feminism of the past 75 years.

well…the whole website and news conference that announced it were a disaster. WE heard (sort of) from Hershal Walker who is probably still working off that 30 year personal services contract he signed with Donald Trump back in the days of the New Jersey Generals (United States Football League). Then some very out of place folks apparantly involved in Little Britches Rodeo(not a sport sanctioned by the High School Activities Association), then a push for the website by Governor Noem (who claims that as far as the website goes she’s not Governor Noem but private citizen Noem). Oddly, the event is attended by the Governor’s staff. Then this snafu with pictures of a Ohio High School soccer team purloined onto the website with no one’s permission. Sloppy, sloppy work. The whole thing is bizarrely inane. What’s next???
