Perpich Bounces Back with 241 Signatures for Indy Senate Run

Mary Perpich comes back big from her surprise petition rejection. After Rep. Spencer Hawley spoiled Perpich’s Democratic nominating petition for the District 7 Senate seat with his invalid notary seal, Perpich hit the streets and the library with an independent nominating petition. She needed another 50 signatures; she reports that she collected 241:

Today is the deadline for submitting independent nominating petitions for all offices in South Dakota. Petitions must either be postmarked today and sent by registered mail or placed in the hands of Secretary of State Shantel Krebs (if she can set her pistol down long enough to take them) by 5 p.m. Central Time today. As it stands, Perpich would join only two other independent candidates for Legislature, her neighbor Cory Ann Ellis for District 7 House and Nick Reid for District 33 House.

    Glad she did that.

Now, SouDakota, elect those Democrats! You’ll be sooooo glad you did.

Is she related to Minnesota icon Rudy Perpich?
(My apologies if this was asked and answered previously. I’m late to the party.)
