Noem Meets Pence for Photo Op, Ignores Trump’s Dismissal of House Health Care Bill

In Tuesday’s empty political theater, South Dakota’s lone Congressman Kristi Noem met with Vice-President Mike Pence to chat about nothing in particular:

Rep. Kristi Noem today met with Vice President Mike Pence to discuss the upcoming congressional agenda, including Obamacare’s repeal and replacement as well as tax reform.

“There’s no shortage of work to do when it comes to getting our country back on track, so it was good to talk more about how we can continue to collaborate and move this country forward,” said Noem. “Whether it’s repealing Obamacare or tackling tax reform for the first time in three decades, it was made clear that both the Vice President and I are committed to getting things done” [Rep. Kristi Noem, press release, 2017.06.13].

That’s the whole press release. No specifics about agriculture or other issues of keen interest to South Dakota, no explanation of why Pence’s boss has changed his mind about Noem’s vote to repeal Obamacare and now says the plan she voted for is “mean”, just vague hand-waving about moving forward, which this Congress hasn’t done yet.

Mike Pence and Kristi Noem
Gee, VP Pence, looking a little low-energy there…

And hey, I thought it was against Pence’s religion to be alone with a woman other than his wife.

Rep. Kristi Noem and VP Mike Pence, with chaperone?
Rep. Noem considers the proper response to Vice-President Pence’s rehearsal of his Trump impression.

Ah, whew—a chaperone!

What, no statements from Noem on how big tax cuts for the wealthy would grow the economy 9%?
Troy I’m still waiting for your answer on that one.

What are wingnuts smoking that makes them talk in tongues? Unemployment was way down-thanks to Obama and Libs. Stock market at record highs and tripled what it was when Obama took over. Minimum wage has gone up. More people than ever had health insurance for the first time ever. People’s attitudes (wingnuts ain’t people) towards same sex marriage and Gays in general improved immensely. Obama healed rifts with our foreign allies that dumbass dubya destroyed. Domestic oil production was up and gas was exported for the first time ever. Obama expanded gun rights.

Of course the biggest change was how latent racism reared its ugly right wing head and wingnut obstructionism was the worst ever. Fewest judges were approved since 1957. Wingnuts refused to vote on a well qualified justice for the Scotus because they are cowards and treasonous bastards.

Photo ops and press releases may be fun but they are no substitute for actual work. Unfortunately, South Dakota elects show horses rather than work horses.

Hopefully supporting Pence and Trump will be an albatross around her neck.

They might be committed to get things done, but what they want to get done ought to get them committed. Pence, fresh from kicking off the Trump praise-fest, must have not done a good enough job to suit The Donald, so he was sentenced to meet with Noem.

Let’s be even more shallow than Noem and dish about Noem’s cut and color. Disasterous! Maybe it is the lighting, or something about the digital process, but she looks like a two-toned coupe from the 1970s. I hope she talked to Pence about hairstylists. Pence’s cut and color guy is top notch, far more terrific in every way than whoever glues that orange rug on Trump’s head every day.

I actually kind of like Noem’s new hair color, but those big 80s drooping earrings need to go. :)

“There are still plenty of computers involved” even without digital touch screens, says Appel. “Even with optical scan voting, it’s not just the voting machines themselves—it’s the desktop and laptop computers that election officials use to prepare the ballots, prepare the electronic files from the OpScan machines, panel voter registration, electronic poll books. And the computers that aggregate the results together from all of the optical scans.”

“If any of those get hacked, it could could significantly disrupt the election.”

Noem needs to “pick a lane” with her hair color. Right Troy?
