Planned Parenthood Offers Free STD Testing in Sioux Falls April 28, 29, May 1

The nice folks at Planned Parenthood are good neighbors. South Dakota has a problem with sexually transmitted diseases, and Planned Parenthood is addressing that problem by offering free STD testing next week:

Planned Parenthood logoWHAT: In honor of Get Yourself Tested (GYT) Month, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) will offer free STD testing, in partnership with the Center for Equality and Kilian Community College, to all community members at three separate locations in Sioux Falls on 4/28, 4/29 and 5/1. To mark this occasion, PPMNS is also releasing a new brief titled Brief: South Dakota, 2014 Sexually Transmitted Diseases (released April 2015 using the most recent available data.)

FOR PATIENTS: One of Planned Parenthood’s expert registered nurses (RN) will be offering noninvasive STD tests, including a cheek swab test for HIV and a simple urine test for chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. All testing will be conducted in a confidential, nonjudgmental environment. HIV test results will be available within twenty minutes, and chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis results will be delivered by phone within a week (we will only call you if the result is positive). Cost will be free for students and community members [Planned Parenthood, press release, 2015.04.24].

Here are the testing sites and dates in Sioux Falls:

According to the Planned Parenthood fact sheet (which matches state Department of Health data), chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis have been trending upward in South Dakota for years. New cases of HIV decreased a little in 2014. Planned Parenthood offers free testing so people can learn if they are infected, seek treatment, and protect their loved ones. Rep. Kristi Noem, Senator John Thune, and Senator Mike Rounds would deny Planned Parenthood public funding to provide such valuable public health services.

The spike in STDs is just another bullet point in the Rounds/Daugaard legacy along with higher crime rates, teen binge drinking, and suicides: red state collapse on parade.

Does RC still have a PP? No testing there?

Brookings has a PP. I don’t think Rapid does.

    Deb,
There is no PP in Rapid City, the fools

Speaking of PP: is he dead? A chimpanzee could copy and paste the bilge that’s posted over there.

Looks like Phleming has been jousting with Andy Shiers over there. Sibby has a Shiers infestation, too, it seems.

There is an increase in STDs in SD and from what I have been hearing HIV is increasing in some of the southern states in the ultra conservative southern Bible Belt states.
