Will Noem Back Lindell or Dhillon for RNC Chair?

Kristi Noem has been side-swiping Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel for not winning enough elections, but she hasn’t said publicly whom she’d prefer as a party leader. One would think her first choice would be her election-denial buddy and plane-lender Mike Lindell, who says he wants to run the RNC:

“I am 100% running for the RNC chairman against [current chair] Ronna McDaniel,” Lindell told Steve Bannon, an ally to former President Trump and ex-White House strategist.

“I’m all in … and one of the things that one of the big donors said to me, he said, Mike, everybody wants you to be head of the RNC, some of them just don’t know it yet,” he said [Erin Doherty, “MyPillow CEO Says He Is Running to Chair RNC,” Axios, 2022.11.28].

But wind-checking Noem will likely see that the wind is filling the sails of a more viable chair candidate and election denier, California lawyer Harmeet Dillon:

Harmeet Dhillon, a RNC committeewoman whose firm represents Donald Trump, is prepping a bid for party chair, according to two people familiar with her planning. Dhillon has been talking with fellow RNC members about a prospective run, and those close to Dhillon say a formal launch could come within the next few days.

“After three successive terms of underwhelming results at the polls for the GOP, all the while with leaders congratulating ourselves for outstanding performance, I feel that we owe it to our voters to have a serious debate about the leadership of the party and what we must change to actually win in 2024,” Dhillon said in a statement.

…Dhillon is a Fox News regular whose law firm has represented several top MAGA officials, including Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake as well as Trump in his dealings with the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. She has argued that there were major problems in the 2020 election and that the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago was “purely” political [Alex Isenstadt, “Ronna McDaniel Set to Get New Opponent for RNC Post,” Politico, 2022.12.04].

For what it’s worth, Dhillon retweeted Noem just two days ago:

  1. What a mess. Mike Lindell is simply another caricature of the aging GOP but misogyny and domestic terrorism define the extreme white wing of the Republican Party so Mrs. Noem preaches fascism and authoritarianism. Herr Trump is a career criminal who conspires with Russia and stunted America with a vindictive assault on trade with China.

The irony writes itself. The hateful, spiteful republicans imagining they can find a winning pony in their corral of doo-doo — by looking for a pillow, or long-losing a federal judge sanctioned lawyers and law firms representing lying, Constitution suspending trump is pitiful. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/elections/2022/12/02/federal-judge-rips-lake-finchem-lawsuit-on-voting-machines-orders-sanctions/69693664007/
Give them a shovel, or at least another goose to pluck.

Locally, South Dakota ought pay attention to what Iowa did to its economy as a consequence of its self-immolating, laughing stock caucus. Rural myths are locally strong, and foolish. Iowa elections are now a mess. Iowa state law calls for having the ‘first in the nation’ caucus. The republican state government will not change that for the democrats so Iowa will likely still hold an early caucus. It remains to be seen whether the DNC will recognize, fund, and seat delegates. IF flyover country wants to pretend its viable in national primary elections, they ought to ORGANIZE to host a regional primary (IA, ND, SD, NE, KS, maybe WY & MT).

America has turned against Trump, it’s only going to take a bit more time. The Party is far beyond the people, except in South Dakota and a few other states. As usual, South Dakota lags the American popular culture by twenty years. I’m with Mark, please make it the Pillow Guy. Put a bullet in the badly wounded Party.
