In his speech to the South Dakota Democratic Convention last Friday, Attorney General nominee Randy Seiler spoke powerfully of holding an abused child’s hand, looking into that child’s eyes, and promising to make justice real.
Among the children for whom state Attorneys General can do justice are the children the federal government is abusing with its cruel family separation policy. New York State is promising to sue the federal government to stop this abuse:
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday that the state would file a lawsuit within two weeks over the Trump administration policy, saying at least 70 children who have been detained at the border have been shipped to private facilities in New York.
“Politics aside, philosophy aside, children have legal rights. Parents have legal rights,” Cuomo said. “That’s established firmly in the federal and state constitutions and in case law.”
…Cuomo said New York has legal grounds to file a lawsuit in part because of children being brought to the state to be housed here under the federal Unaccompanied Alien Child program.
The lawsuit will be brought by several state agencies to “protect the health and well-being of children being held at least 10 different facilities across the state and at others throughout the nation,” Cuomo’s office said [Joseph Spector, “Gov. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it houses the children the federal government is abusing in “approximately 100 shelters in 14 states” and is evaluating new temporary shelters. If any of those shelters are in South Dakota, our Attorney General should join New York in suing over this child abuse.
Good. And where are the girls? We’ve seen many images of boys, but no girls. pres Animal Sh*thole is concerned over the “optics” of toddlers, babies and girls being seen. He doesn’t give a damn for the terrible injuries he’s inflicting on these little ones. He and his equally perverse daughter just don’t think it looks good.

Twenty Democratic Attorneys General wrote a letter to the Administration opposing family separation. Jackley did not join them. Randy Seiler would have. Many Republican members of Congress voiced their opposition; ours muttered fecklessly.

Since 2014, every year, every military base has been required to report available facilities to house the children being illegally smuggled into the United States. This program of locking children in buildings on military installations, which Trump inherited, was a program invented and implemented by the Obama administration. It was wrong then and is wrong now yet now it is being used as a weapon to attack Trump. I don’t like it now and I didn’t like it then but blaming Trump instead of the Congress that created this is no more than another cheap shot.

There are 9 US consulates & one US embassy in Mexico where non US citizens can apply for asylum without ANY risk of being separated from their kids.
They can also go through the port of entry and will not be separated.

Mother jones claims there are many reports of asylum seekers being turned away from points of entry.
Keep in mind that these are not Mexican nationals seeking asylum, so the embassy and consulates in Mexico would do these folks no good. They are seeking asylum from the countries they originate from, Guatemala, El Salvador that are embroiled in narco wars over the drugs that we Americans are addicted to. The United States has created the problems there so they are coming here to find safety.
