South Dakota Forward invited Senator Mike Rounds to a town hall in Pierre this evening. The pro-democracy activist group didn’t realize when they scheduled the event that Senator Rounds would be busy applauding the President’s address to Congress tonight, but they thought maybe Senator Rounds could at least send a staffer from his office to take citizen questions.
According to organizers of tonight’s town hall, Rounds staff said they don’t participate in “political” events that they don’t organize. South Dakota Forward thus had an opportunity to hear comments from local politically attentive citizens Roxanne Weber, Shiloe King, Amanda Bachman, and Charlene Lund:
Keep those cards and letters going to your Senators and Representative! They still work for us, not the President.
“Demolish&destroy”. Rounds standing, clapping. “Shock&awe”. Rounds standing, clapping. “Repeal&replace”. Rounds standing, clapping. Propagandists republican shills. Bobble-heads noem&thune. “Yemen raid a success”. “A Good Guy With A Gun (in school, in Starbux ect)”. “You’re Fired”. Jfc.
OK, even I am throwing a “political theatre” flag on this one. Scheduling an event without working with the Senator – even knowing he will be back in DC – is not a effort to get the candidate to speak with constituents. I would put energy into a push for REAL interactions.
