I am Grover. Ernie is a subtle dadaist. And Cookie Monster reminds us that gluttony—in this case, trying to consume everyone’s attention—means you’re not taking time to enjoy what’s before you. And if I may turn Stephen Stills’s song (itself just a year younger than Sesame Street) on its moral head, Cookie and his friends remind us that, at the dinner table, we should stow our phone and love the ones we’re with.
