Anti-Abortion Activists Ignore Novstrup/Ewing Angst About Boycotts

During his campaign for Senate last year, Al Novstrup cried that the low point of his time in the Legislature was when I suggested a boycott of the businesses of legislators who backed 2016’s House Bill 1107, an anti-LGBT “Sharia for Jesus” that Novstrup and colleagues whittled down this year into our potentially unconstitutional legal permission for adoption agencies to discriminate against parents who don’t meet their religious standards. This summer, Novstrup’s Spearfish colleague Senator Bob Ewing said he does “not condone telling anyone else to not trade with anyone in business,” even though the Spearfish Sears store owner’s support for a marijuana ballot petition led Ewing to refuse to do business at that store.

If Republicans like Novstrup and Ewing really do find boycotts so gravely offensive, then surely they will upbraid their anti-abortion friends over the coals for stirring backlash against the Brandon Pharmacy for its support of the assisted suicide initiative petition.

A Brandon Pharmacy along with several other businesses are actively promoting assisted suicide to be placed on South Dakota’s 2018 ballot. This is the reality folks. This is the quality of care for people seeking or being pushed into assisted suicide if it makes it onto the ballot and passes next year. This pharmacist is one of South Dakota’s leading distributors of knockoff pills for mass distribution… exactly the type of person to help grease the wheels to your early demise. Follow this link and make sure these businesses know that you are aware of and disapprove of what they are doing [South Dakota Right to Life, Facebook post, 2017.07.13].

SDRTL carefully avoids the word boycott, but their warning that a pharmacist wants to “grease the wheels to your early demise” sure sounds like a call for “breaking relationships” with that business, which got poor old Al all teary-eyed last year. It sure sounds like trying to “bad mouth a business or other business owner,” which Al’s pal Bob said is a no-no.

Either Senators Novstrup and Ewing really don’t mind retribution against businesses who engage in political activities they find offensive, or they have some stern finger-wagging to do at their friends in the anti-abortion movement.

In a text to his mistress pro-life Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) urged her to get an abortion after he got her pregnant.

‘Pro-life’ GOP congressman who asked his mistress to get an abortion will retire at the end of his term

Yup, them crazy conservatives. He also just voted to prevent abortions after 20 weeks in violation of Roe v Wade.

Not to rub it in, but wingnut family values seems only to apply to Democrats.

Him being congressweasel Murphy of Pennsylvania. This might have passed over had his mistress’ hubby not named the married congressman in divorce papers. I hear the pregnancy he was wanting to abort turned out to be a false alarm as well.

Sorry to step all over your post, Roger. It wasn’t showing when I posted. I am out of here.

No problem Mike, it seems we posted at about the same time.
Get back here and keeping on stepping.
I always wonder how many of these pro-lifers have an abortion secret in their own families.
