Krebs Scrubs Racist Flag from State Website

Secretary of State Shantel Krebs appears to agree with me and with other concerned citizens that the traitor flag of the Confederacy is an offensive symbol of racism:

The South Dakota Secretary of State’s office removed a photo from its website Monday following criticism that it showed a student’s Confederate flag T-shirt.

Secretary of State Shantel Krebs said her office took down the photo out of “respect and concern for the students and faculty at Mobridge school,” where Krebs visited in March 2016 as part of a tour to promote voter participation. Krebs added that there is no room for racism in our society [Megan Raposa, “Secretary of State Removes Photo Showing Student’s Confederate Flag T-Shirt,” that Sioux Falls paper, 2017.08.14].

I look forward to U.S. House candidate Krebs making that point when she visits Gettysburg. There is no room for racism in our society, not on state websites, not on police uniforms.

That’s the second Web boo-boo House candidate Krebs has had to clean up this summer. Last month, citizens noticed that the official Secretary of State smartphone app was directing users to Krebs’s campaign page. Perhaps both Teams Krebs, in the Secretary of State’s office and in the House campaign, need to run a Level 1 Diagnostic on all of their public-facing computer systems.

In related news, PBS reminds us today that Robert E. Lee opposed Confederate monuments:

“I think it wiser,” the retired military leader wrote about a proposed Gettysburg memorial in 1869, “…not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavored to obliterate the marks of civil strife, to commit to oblivion the feelings engendered” [Lisa DesJardins, “Robert E. Lee Opposed Confederate Monuments, PBS NewsHour, 2017.08.15].

    Paging Gettysburg SD Police Department….
