The Libertarian Party of South Dakota met last Saturday and elected new leadership:

Sioux Falls personal trainer Aaron Aylward replaces Aberdeen comic Jon Boon McNutt as state chair. Aylward’s Facebook page indicates he’s a good Rand Paul/Gary Johnson Libertarian. Last fall he expressed support for repealing the Affordable Care Act and letting private insurers “fill the void” by selling policies across state lines (which, once again, is allowed under Section 1333 of the Affordable Care Act and has been tried with little success).

Richard Shelatz of Rapid City remains vice-chair, and Daryl Root of Clear Lake remains treasurer. Greg Baldwin of Wakonda takes over for his brother Scott as membership director. Keystone real estater Gideon Oakes serves as at-large party committee member. Tracey Quint of Sioux Falls is now the Libertarian communications director.

The Libertarian convention, held Saturday at Monk’s House of Ale Repute in Sioux Falls, included Libertarian speakers from neighboring speakers but did not appear to flush out any candidates for 2018.
