Lynne DiSanto Misses Special Session Vote, Updates Facebook Photo

I heard during the votes this afternoon that Senators Jenna Haggar Netherton and Deb Peters and Representatives Craig Tieszen and Lynne DiSanto are excused from today’s special session on nonmeandered waters.

Funny—in her Facebook profile photo updated sometime before 4 p.m. Mountain today, Rep. DiSanto doesn’t look sick:

Maybe someone should meander over to Rep. DiSanto’s house and see if she remembers she had work today.

By the way, in DiSanto’s absence, the House and Senate have both approved versions of HB 1001, but the Senate amended the House’s sunset date from 2021 to 2018, and sponsor Rep. Lee Qualm wanted that sent to conference committee. As of 6 p.m. Central, that committee is arm-wrestling over which Legislature gets the hot potato. Rep. DiSanto could still make the conference committee vote, if she gets the lead out.

    All superficial, no substance.

A Led Zeppelin fan should get the benefit of the doubt. For example, one could be sick and having a 3P administer their account/site. Also, one could be sick in bed and uploading the photo. Finally, excused does not necessarily mean sick. All in all, not sure what to make of this situation.

There are times when I think it is best that republican legislators stay home where they can do the least damage.

  4. grudznick 2017-06-12 19:28

Mr. Rorschach, it seems rude that the Governor would call this session of the legislatures together when young Ms. Peters was out doing the people’s work.

Mr. Lawdog, at least not being there is like a vote of NO for passing things, isn’t it? Ms. Peters and the other skippers voted no. If half the people stayed home it would not have enough YESes to pass.

This is a similar argument to those who say that to pass measures initiated by the ignorant voters there should be a minimum of a certain percentage of all registered voters. Or to put it on the election sheet perhaps. Here, Mr. Bolin and I are of a similar brain.

Here’s a fun game. Caption that photo above using Led Zeppelin lyrics.

How gross can we get, Ror? Lemon song lyrics gross?

  7. mike from iowa 2017-06-12 19:47

Leastways she doesn’t appear to have her finger on any triggers this time around.

What amazes me is that Coyote and Quick Draw here, seem to be into some good bands. What the hell happened to them? Led Zeppelin, good band that just maybe stole some licks and lyrics on a Randy California song. The Grateful Dead, just a great band with original lyrics and originality. With that in mind, what the hell happened here with these two dingalings?

  11. Rorschach 2017-06-12 20:09

    Nobody playing?

    Oh, Lord, deliver me
    All the wrong I’ve done
    You can deliver me, Lord
I only wanted to have some fun.

Wonder if Jenna didn’t want to drive from her new husband’s home . . . which is where?

  13. grudznick 2017-06-12 20:26

Mr. E, who is her new husband and where does he live? For Satan’s sake, please don’t tell me it’s in Iowa.

Take it easy baby, let them say what they will.
Will your tongue wag so much when I send you the bill?

  16. grudznick 2017-06-12 21:36

Who chickened out and went home early and will they get paid for a full days wages? Was it Mr. Nelson and Mr. Russell and some of the others who are insaner than most? I hope they withhold their wages.

You would have thought that those legislators, who missed the special session, could have found a way to meander up to Pierre in time, wouldn’t you?…. Or maybe they were just trapped in non-meandering waters? (Sorry) ;-)

Jerry- Jurors found that Led Zeppelin’s lead singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page did not steal the opening to “Stairway” from Spirit’s instrumental “Taurus,” which was penned in 1967.

Verdict may be appealed. LZ , like them or not, produced some awesome noise.

  19. jerry 2017-06-13 08:51

Indeed mfi, maybe they did maybe they did not, sure sounds alike though, but the court said no way. Now to our own here that sound like they are elected officials, but don’t seem to be. What is kind of ironic in a weird way is that we are in the middle of a drought discussing meandered water for fishing access. There is a boat licence on the front of each boat, put a bar code on that and if the boat meanders into landowners domain, it could then be assessed.

Porter gets me thinking about how carefully DiSanto posed this picture. This is no casual selfie; this is deliberate branding.

JKC, you are forgiven. I shall erect no buoys prohibiting your punny trolling.

Clark got 2.75″ rain. Green Fields? :)

  22. Don Coyote 2017-06-13 09:51

@jerry: “Led Zeppelin, good band that just maybe stole some licks and lyrics on a Randy California song.”

While LZ got to skate on the Spirit song, they were notorious as Bob Dylan for stealing lyrics, riffs and not giving credit let alone royalties for their thefts.

“Reasonable people can disagree on whether (and how heavily) Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” filches from Spirit’s “Taurus” – that’s why there’s a court case in progress. But the reason many people aren’t extending Led Zeppelin the benefit of the doubt on “Stairway” is because they have an extensive history of swiping songs from other people and giving credit only under duress.”

Is this blonde auditioning for a couch job at Fake Noise? Fake Noise where truth goes to die.

  24. Rorschach 2017-06-13 10:50

You say LZ notoriously stole lyrics, Coyote, but you know sometimes words have two meanings.

  25. Don Coyote 2017-06-13 11:16

@Rorschah: “You say LZ notoriously stole lyrics, Coyote, but you know sometimes words have two meanings.”

While you can use the word “notorious” in a positive sense/context, it’s contemporary usage is more commonly used in the negative context. I thought I made it abundantly clear in my post that I’m using it in a negative context hence my use of the word “stealing”, of the phrase “not giving credit” and linking to the Rolling stone article that discusses LZ’s practice of “swiping songs”. Sorry my post went over your head.

  26. mike from iowa 2017-06-13 11:21

Was the verdict that LZ did not misappropriate from Taurus an ambiguous ruling? Did the jury leave any doubt?

  27. Porter Lansing 2017-06-13 11:27

Zep pretty much stole all the blues licks from black R&B musicians, too. That’s why Keith Moon said they’d go over like a Lead Dirigible and Keef called them “hollow”. Like Republicans trying to write meaningful legislation, “There’s no there, there.”
Of course, Zep like The Dead is a stage band. Albums were secondary. If you ever saw Zep live you won’t forget it.

  28. Rorschach 2017-06-13 11:29

Sorry my post went over your head, Coyote. I thought you would like my post.

  29. Rorschach 2017-06-13 11:36

OK. I’ll explain it to you as you sit there in the dark, Coyote. My post contains lyrics from Stairway to Heaven. I guess you can say I stole them. Too subtle for you?

  30. Porter Lansing 2017-06-13 12:11

I got it and I laughed, Schach. Coyote’s grumpy because he can’t go to concerts anymore because he’s really old and can’t sit down with that stick up his butt. :0)

  31. Don Coyote 2017-06-13 13:18

@PorterLansing: “Coyote’s grumpy because he can’t go to concerts anymore because he’s really old and can’t sit down with that stick up his butt. :0)”

That’s not true. I still go to concerts. Most recently were James Taylor and Robert Cray. My wife gave me tickets to a Paul Simon concert on Father’s Day. I’m going to miss out on a Jerry Jeff Walker concert in July because I had already bought tickets for Paul McCartney in Omaha.

Even if I had a stick up my butt I could still get seats on the main floor where all the hipsters like you and Rorschach stand for the entire concert waving their Bic™ lighters and lighter apps on their cellphones. ;-)

  32. Rorschach 2017-06-13 14:12

When, if, the mighty Zep finally gets back together for another tour I will stand in the pit and welcome you each to join me. Such an event should cut across party lines.

  33. mike from iowa 2017-06-13 14:47

Jerry Jeff Walker’s claim to fame (besides he is not Led Zep) is having written Mr Bojangles and getting the ever loving stuffing beat out of him by truckers and bikers alike.

  34. jerry 2017-06-13 15:25

Whoa there mfi, Jerry Jeff puts on a helluva show. I have seen him a couple of times do that and once when he was drunk, way drunk. Always a good time at one of his sessions.

  35. Porter Lansing 2017-06-13 15:31

I’m back, Don. Went for Thai food lunch. ummmmm … Chicken Pad Thai . You know I was just kidding. If it weren’t for you, we liberals would get our facts so balled up we’d never get things straight. lol Paul Simon and McCartney sounds excellent. Jerry Jeff? Is he still alive? I’ve got the new Robert Cray album and you know how good it is. “Really good”. James plays here all the time. His daughter has a “raw food” cart on the Boulder mall. We had two shows last week. Roger Waters and The Dead. Both went down without a bombing or any other problems. :0) I’m the one that’s about too old to go, anymore. And, I only use the Bic lighter to keep my fingers warm. #grins

no stairway to heaven! google it. deadheads call LZ ‘Alvin & the chipmunks’.

jfc, does she have a flag draped “patriot” room?

however, despite the immigration issue, oh oh…. mfi, very very funny. at least she isn’t wearing a wolf t-shirt. howlin’ wolf

my 1st lz time-spring 1969 Denver coliseum, oh oh baby. now the hill in boulder then, that was something.

maybe those on the left wouldn’t come to see LZ one last time, like republicans, like disanto (obsessed with how hot or cool she is), who apparently would. like, hey manners

its like republicans are finally cool. now that cool is not cool. misappropriating and spinning everything that was once good. like npr. 20 years from now she’ll be wearing an NPR t-shirt in her grinning photo-shopped 3-D virtual ect selfie :)

Funny how Haggar lives in Texas now with her husband. How can she represent her district if she doesn’t live here? Haggar needs to resign!!

Greg, do you have some documentation of that change of address for Senator Netherton?
