    Sovereign Sioux Tribe

The federal and state governments have no authority to violate sovereign Native American owned land and burial sites on behalf of profits for a private corporation. This is more than just a private property issue it’s a Sovereign State issue. We the People have had enough of the 200+ years of abuse against Sovereign Native Americans in the name of We the People.

RESERVATION OF SOVEREIGNTY: “The Tribe’s role as commercial partner with petitioners should not be confused with its role as sovereign. It is one thing to find that the Tribe has agreed to sell the right to use the land and take valuable minerals from it, and quite another to find that the Tribe has abandoned its sovereign powers simply because it has not expressly reserved them through a contract. To presume that a sovereign forever waives the right to exercise one of its powers unless it expressly reserves the right to exercise that power in a commercial agreement turns the concept of sovereignty on its head. – MERRION ET AL., DBA MERRION & BAYLESS, ET AL. v. JICARILLA APACHE TRIBE ET AL. 1982 SCT 394, 455 U.S. 130, 102 S. Ct. 894, 71 L. Ed. 2d 21, 50 U.S.L.W. 4169 pp. 144-148

Standing Rock Sioux Tribe against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline on and near the tribe’s sovereign land in North Dakota. State officials in North Dakota are currently hoping to quell protests on the Dakota Pipeline by introducing fines and blocking food to starve them out. Basically, all of this is over plans to build a pipeline by a privately held company. To this end, the State of North Dakota with Federal help has spent over 6 million taxpayer dollars to see this through. They are doing this by cutting through Native American owned land and burial sites at great risk to that land and their water. The Federal Governments expects them to leave. In order to force them to leave and quell the protests, the Government has already used following during this entire protest process over the last few months:

    1) Thousands of militarized police (with more called in from around the country to help out)

    2) Armored vehicles

    3) Chemical weapons

    4) Miles of razor wire
    5) Concrete barriers
    6) Water cannons (in freezing temperatures) 7) Concussion grenades
    8) Mass arrests
    9) Physical violence and intimidation

They have also made use of digital and physical surveillance rivaling any warzone, including stingrays, cell blockers, unmarked surveillance planes, military drones, cell phone tapping, e-mail hacking, and listening devices in hotel rooms. There has also been use of LRADs, rubber bullets, beanbags; they’ve shot down drones, made use of attack dogs, and put together no less than two major roadblocks.

Furthermore, when there was a massive fire spreading across the camp where protestors were staying on-site and aid was needed, the state sent no services. They have issued a no-fly zone, placed snipers on the hills, put 20ft fortified walls around the construction, and ATVs are said to be patrolling the area. All of this is in response to PEACEFUL protestors – with more coming in from around the country every day – who are there to protect the water, land, and tribal sovereignty. But as we’ve seen in Flint, Michigan, the government cares very little for people’s water.

But all of this wasn’t enough to stop the protestors, so now, they are going to starve thousands of people – including families with children – by blocking supplies in an attempt to get them to give up and go. In effect, the government has officially turned on the people exercising their right to assemble and protest peacefully in every way short of using live ammunition. But honestly, it seems like some of what’s been going on may already be worse. But still, the protestors stand.

Ms Strong don’t forget the inhumane and ridiculous rioting charges that are a result of right wing conspirators wanting to take away your 1st amendment rights to peacefully gather and protest your government.

I am afraid Drumpf has opened a can of worms where there will be little to no negotiating property rights and just flat out taking the needed land without just compensation.
