Politico Spots Thune at Dodger Stadium

Senator John Thune went quiet on Twitter over Easter. But post-holiday, he hasn’t resurrected his social media updates, save a retweet of his April 14 pablum on paying taxes:

Let’s be honest, no one enjoys paying taxes. While that might be the understatement of the century, it’s worth pointing out now that tax season is upon us once again. April is typically enjoyed for other, more enjoyable seasons, like the return of spring or Major League Baseball. Unfortunately, a lot of Americans spend a significant amount of time figuring out whether a return is headed their way or if they’ve struck out with the IRS and will need to write a check to Uncle Sam [Senator John Thune, column, 2017.04.14].

All that baseball on the brain explains how Senator Thune spent his tax refund:

SPOTTED: Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) Tuesday night sitting behind home plate at the Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game in LA… [“Wednesday’s Spotted,” Politico, 2017.04.19].

Thune’s last tweet mentioned doing more “to ensure taxpayers’ money is being spent as efficiently & effectively as possible.” We’re not getting the most efficient and effective representation when our senior Senator’s ratio of town halls to Major League Baseball games in California over Easter recess is one to one.

Imagine trying to run a successful major league baseball league, or a team for that matter, where you only give your fans a three day “Thune” notice about the next game – or how about by the Noem standard and merely a 24 hour notice?….. I don’t think so…..

The true lesson to be learned from this excursion to a Dodger game is that it happened because of a genuine organizational commitment to the purpose of the game and the business side itself, but if you have a flippant attitude about a business and its duty or potential, it will eventually fail, and prove that you are truly not up to the game nor its purpose…

Meanwhile… In Minnesota….. Senator Al Franken is delivering Meals On Wheels to elderly folks.

  3. grudznick 2017-04-19 17:45

I read this on a blog so I’m pretty sure it’s true.

Al Franken was elected illegally and has shown to be a loon in the Senate.

  4. Buckobear 2017-04-19 17:56

What’s he doing in LA ??
Gone to a ball game lately — bring all your $$. Farmer John was probably comped.

    nice panic google grudz.

the finding of an 18-month study conducted by Minnesota Majority, a conservative watchdog group, which found that at least 341 convicted felons in largely Democratic Minneapolis-St. Paul voted “illegally” in the 2008 Senate race between Franken, a Democrat, and his Republican opponent. remember,

Author Franken wrote: Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations (Delacorte Press, 1996) ISBN 0-385-31474-4

and, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right (Dutton Books, 2003) ISBN 0-525-94764-7

    here’s your cite, grudz, right?

the article continued: a certain Kenyan illegal alien who won an election in the US, and despite repeated complaints and lawsuits by voters, absolutely nothing has been done to subpoena a birth certificate and settle the issue. Election fraud whether by vote stealing or by faking US citizenship simply does not get addressed in our sham Republic. https://prowhiteparty.wordpress.com

Once again grudz graces us with his ignorance.
Al Franken won a close legal election to win his senate seat, the only problem in the 2008 election was that Norm Coleman refused to concede until the courts forced him to. He won reelection 2014 quite easily.
Simply because Franken was one of the original writers/actors for SNL does not make him a loon, it means that national television show recognized his talent and hired him.
Franken also graduated cum laude from Harvard College majoring in government.
As the recent senate confirmation hearings played out for 45’s cabinet Franken exercised his skill at questioning the unqualified candidates that 45 nominated.
More congressmen and senators should have the skillset that Senator Al Franken.

You mean he had a town hall? where? Rainbow, SD?

  8. grudznick 2017-04-19 20:08

I stated I read that on a blog and that it was probably true. I did not say it was true. Although it probably is. Most everybody hates Al Franken, and he usually works against the interests of the sovereign nations within our borders.

Grudznick, I don’t think it is fair to refer to the GOP as a “sovereign nation within our borders” no matter how they act. I know there are plenty of examples of how they have put their party’s interests before the wellbeing of the nation (refusing to hold confirmation hearings on an appointed Supreme Court Justice, signing a letter to a Democratic President condemning potential Syrian strikes being unconstitutional without Congressional consent – but not making that objection when a Republican President orders those strikes, sitting on information about Russian interference in the US Presidential election, placing political contributors in high-ranking cabinet positions for which they lack the most basic qualifications . . .), but even that does not make their political party a sovereign nation.

. . . or were those not the interests you refer to Franken “working against?”

Wrong. There was no “alleged margin of victory.” The Minnesota Canvassing Board, a three-judge trial panel, and the Minnesota Supreme Court declared Franken the winner, eventually by 312 votes. The margin of victory was confirmed, not alleged.

Of the 12 judges on those three panels, six were appointed by Republicans, two by Democrats, three by independent Gov. Jesse Ventura, and one ran for an open seat.

Thune was probably on the left coast for a Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA) class reunion and decided to catch a game. Or maybe he gave up his fake tan for lent and wanted a real one instead.

  12. Rorschach 2017-04-20 11:11

Speaking of Al Franken, it wouldn’t surprise me if he ran for President against Donald Trump in 2020. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Franken won – and won big.

Grudz should keep an eye on all the fake news sites and let us know all the fake news about Franken as he prepares to whup up on the Donald.

  13. Jenny 2017-04-20 11:32

While Franken has a very close first election he has gained the respect of a lot of Minnesotans and he and Sen Amy Klobuchar are popular in the state. As popular as Thune and Rounds is to you, grudzie! :)

  14. Jenny 2017-04-20 11:35

had a very close first election (meant to say)
Franken’s problem is that out of staters still portray him as the funny looking guy from SNL. He has worked hard to erase that image and is a more serious man now that is known for working hard and getting around MN. I would wager a bet that Klobuchar and Franken hold more townhalls than SD two have.

  15. o 2017-04-20 13:08

A former TV personality cannot be a credible Senator, but a former movie actor is the GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER!

“Political” debate is so much more fun and easy when thought and reason and consistency is abandoned.

    o
I may be wrong, but I think grudz’s sovereign nation comment was in reference to tribal reservations within the states borders.
grudz’s dig was that Franken works against the interests of Indians, which is totally untrue and a lie.
In 2014 Franken visited the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Mike Rounds has been in office for a couple of years and is too scared to visit Indians.

From Attorney General Jeff Sessions, still unhappy that President Trump’s immigration order has been stayed by the courts:

I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the President of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and Constitutional power.

An “island in the Pacific”? Seriously? That island is Hawaii. It’s a state. It has federal judges, just like all the other states. That includes judges in Washington, Virginia, New York, and California, who stayed Trump’s original order, and judges in Wisconsin and Maryland, who stayed Trump’s revised order in whole or part. Nor is it “amazing” that a judge can stay an executive order. That’s what judges do if circumstances warrant. That’s how our country works. The attorney general should respect this, even when he disagrees with a court’s decision.

Thune can’t find constituents in LA. Our AG is a perjurer that apparently doesn’t know Hawaii is a state of the Union he swears to defend and the freaking morons in our government can’t remember where they left billion dollar aircraft carrier groups. Be afwaid. Be vewy afwaid.

Could it be logically assumed that arguing with tRump supporters
(oops – I just had an image of a jockstrap-sorry) is like dueling with an unarmed man ?
