Women March in Sioux Falls, Rapid City January 21

Local Trumpy Klansters interested in supporting women’s rights may find travel and lodging for the Women’s March on Washington cost-prohibitive. But they could show their commitment to women’s equality with a quick drive down to Sioux Falls two weeks from now for the Women’s March on Sioux Falls.

WomensMarchSFLogoWe are standing up in our Sioux Falls community as defenders of human rights. We are standing in solidarity with the Women’s March on Washington, on January 21, 2017. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families – recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.

The Women’s March Sioux Falls mission statement is as follows:

“We are peacefully marching to show our strength, courage, and solidarity with WOMEN and South Dakotans, including the LGBTQ community, people of all faiths, people of color, immigrants, disabled citizens, and people of all genders. We stand united for equal human rights” [Women’s March on Sioux Falls, Facebook page, retrieved 2017.01.07].

Women’s Marchers gather at Calvary Episcopal Cathedral, 500 S. Main, at 9 a.m. They’ll march up Phillips Avenue to City Hall at 10 a.m., then head for coffee and conversation at 11 a.m.

Black Hills Women’s March is also on tap for Saturday, January 21. Believers in equality (also known as real Americans) gather in the parking lot of the City and School Administration Center on 6th and Omaha at 9 a.m., then march to the statue of George Washington in front of the Hotel Alex Johnson.

SPINELESS COWARDLY REPUBLICANS … You’ve elected a President who’s soft on Russia? Your champion, Ron Reagan would be disgusted in your choice. Putin raped the most precious thing in America (next to the NFL), our election and Trump won’t even attempt to punish him or his vodka drunk country of stock yard animal-esque, subservient slaves. Your political party owns this disgrace. Stand up now, Conservative Lovers of Liberty and demand military retaliation.

More details on the Vermillion March from the Plain Talk:

Vermillion’s march begins at 1 p.m. on January 21 at the intersection of Dakota Street and Main Street and proceeds down Main Street to the Clay County Courthouse. Prior to the start time, there will be a gathering at 12:30 p.m. at the United Congregational Church on Main Street and the group will reconvene at the UCC afterwards for warm beverages and possibly other actions, like organizing future events or writing to the newly elected officials [Elyse Brightman, “March for Women Planned in Vermillion,” Vermillion Plain Talk, 2017.01.06].

Brightman’s article also mentions a march in Pierre—I’m looking for details.

THIS JUST IN … (No wonder he’s so nervous about Russia. He’s been working with them for over five years and getting secret information on Democrats)
-A report, dated June 2016, claims that the Kremlin has been cultivating, supporting and assisting Trump for at least five years, with the aim of encouraging “splits and divisions in western alliance”.
-It claims that Trump had declined “various sweetener real estate deals offered him in Russia” especially in developments linked to the 2018 World Cup finals but that “he and his inner circle have accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the Kremlin, including on his Democratic and other political rivals.”
-Most explosively, the report alleges: “FSB has compromised Trump through his activities in Moscow sufficiently to be able to blackmail him.” The president-elect has not responded to the allegations.

Stupid Liberals! Women are not losing their rights! Get someone to make your message sound intelligent!

I would join your movement if what you are saying sounds any bit intelligent!

  5. caheidelberger Post author | 2017-01-21 12:11

I find someone who opens with name-calling and labeling is probably just burping up rage stoked by Fox News and spoiling for a fight rather than discussion.

WOuld you care to substantiate your claim, Brooklyne, that women’s rights are not imperiled by the Trump/Pence Administration?

  6. Porter Lansing 2017-01-21 12:37

Yeah, STUPID LIBERALS!! You’re too dumb to use fake news to win favor. You’d never say,
~Trump Just Tweeted, “All you women protesters should be home cooking snacks for your husband’s football games, tomorrow. MAKE MARRIAGE GREAT, AGAIN!!” You’re too stupid to think of something like that.

  7. owen reitzel 2017-01-21 12:41

protests all over the world. great to see.

Best sign I’ve seen so far out of London.

“Shut up Trump and make me a sandwich.”

  8. Mike Boswell 2017-01-21 12:43

It appears to me name calling is not a one sided thing. Maybe instead of making your name calling louder, try using reason. Women have the right to peaceful assembly. I have no issue with the Women’s March.

  9. Porter Lansing 2017-01-21 12:53

    You’re clueless, Boswell.

  10. Mike Boswell 2017-01-21 12:58

NO Porter, I am not clueless. The problem is I call it as I see it, but you don’t like it because it doesn’t forward your point of view. Well Porter your point of view is like and opinion and like mine everyone has one. It is only history that will judge, which is right.

  11. Wayne Pauli 2017-01-21 12:58

My wife attended the Sioux Falls event. She really enjoyed it. Good speakers, no name calling, and she now knows a band of sisters and brothers that she shares something with. Many more people attended then what she had anticipated. I was relegated to watching it live in Twitter. There was a nice big crowd for such a red state. Sounds like it was successful all over.

  12. Porter Lansing 2017-01-21 13:15

Yes, Boswell. You’re clueless and because you served my country I’ll take a second and tell you why.
~ You don’t have a valid right to an opinion on anything that pops into your brain. Telling women you have “no issue” with what they’re doing is your attempt to exert male dominance into a place you have no legitimacy doing anything but watching and keeping your male mouth shut. In short, it’s none of your damn business to invade their space.

  13. Mike Boswell 2017-01-21 13:21

No Porter that’s a point of view that I meant anything other than it is ok for women to peacefully assemble. You read into my posts and you are dead wrong. I can disagree with what they have to say, but allow them to say it anyway. Your right I can’t stop their free speech and I don’t intend too. When I say I have no issue to their assembly, it is because I defended their right to do so. My oath of enlistment didn’t end when I retired from the Military. I might suggest you look inside yourself as to the why’s “no issue” bothers you. Because that is on you. If it is just because we disagree on points in politics, then maybe you have the issues here.

  14. Mike Boswell 2017-01-21 13:28

Porter maybe quit taking everything so personally. Most of my points are to give a different way of thinking about an issue. I am hardly some conservative demigod with a stick to swing. I can respect your position, I just don’t agree with it. I might challenge your position just so others here can ponder another side, not necessarily to convince you of anything. I don’t think blogs will change minds who are actually closed off, but it may open new ideas to those who aren’t. Food for thought.

  15. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 14:45

Brooklynne Arp, you are so right. Women aren’t losing their rights under Trump. Their rights are being expanded. They will still have the right to remain silent and the right to speak when spoken to. They will have the right to look pretty or, if they are not looking good, they have the right to stay home. They have the right to do the dishes as long as it’s before their man gets home from work. They will have the right to go to another country for family planning and medical care. They will have the right to pay for their own health care if they can afford it and the right to declare bankruptcy if their number comes up in the cancer lottery. With all of these rights and more under Trump, I don’t know what all the fuss is about.

  16. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 14:57

Oh yeah, and Brooklynn Arp, liberals do need someone to make their message sound as intelligent as Trump’s message. I mean, who can argue with Trumpisms like a foreign policy based upon “bomb the sh_t out of them” and his outreach to women describing his want to “grab them by the p____ssy” or his witty retorts of “no, you’re the puppet [of Russia],” or “lock her up?” If it’s one thing Trump has going for him it’s his intelligence.

  17. jerry 2017-01-21 16:03

Bill Maher calls republicans what they are, drug addicts. We should make them all pee in a bottle and give up the heroin and wild unprotected sex in the capital building. NSF https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4BWjaLqVqE

  18. Dana P 2017-01-21 16:37

Neighbors just got back from the rally in Rapid City. (sadly, I couldn’t attend) They said it was amazing. Were expecting a hundred to two hundred people, but was closer to 1000+. All walks of life…..older, younger, men, women, people of color, etc.

Watching the coverage from all over the country and all over the world – I’m feeling a little bit better today than I was yesterday.

Question, though…..where does this “movement” go from here? Will it fall like a thud like Occupy Wallstreet did? I hope not.

to the “women aren’t losing their rights” posters here…..what planet are you on? Start paying attention, please.

  19. Mike Boswell 2017-01-21 16:44

Jerry seriously you want to quote Bill Maher. I have been a Republican all my life and I failed a drug test once, but I think getting my finger blown almost off probably gets me a pass. You don’t need to bring this conversation into a “pissing match”. Yes go ahead and divide us further.

  20. jerry 2017-01-21 17:21

Yes Mr. Boswell, republicans have turned our state into a ghetto of drug addiction. Read the poor excuse for papers here, there is heroin on the streets. That heroin is both legal and illegal, but it does not matter, it still corrupts and brings the state down even further. In Rapid City, there was an actual large heroin bust not so long ago. Hell, even Mr. grudznick was chattering about it. So getting your finger “almost blown off”.. What exactly does that mean? I almost got a 160 million bucks on Wednesday, but they drew the wrong damn numbers son, so I am still almost a winner.

When you can come to the table and tell me that our elderly are not addicted, our workers are not addicted, our law enforcement is not addicted, our legislative government is not addicted, then we will not have to have a pissing match, we can do that in a bottle the does not color to red, or even yourself, got it son. Bill Maher is spot on. Only states that are addicted voted for punkin head so they can keep their supply going unchecked. The good news for South Dakota is that you don’t even need to smuggle it, you just go and pick it up. Ya gotta do that or sign for it as it is “controlled”.

  21. Mike Boswell 2017-01-21 17:27

Jerry there’s been drugs here before I was even born. Get off the soap box. The problems of drugs in South Dakota have nothing to do with politics, but the because people feel the need to escape their realities. That problem is a world wide problem.

  22. mike from iowa 2017-01-21 17:28

I have been a Republican all my life and I failed a drug test once, but I think getting my finger blown almost off probably gets me a pass. wtf? Where’s the personal responsibility, Republican?

  23. jerry 2017-01-21 17:39

Were you successful to escape your reality Mr. Boswell, how did that work for you?

  24. jerry 2017-01-21 17:42

When Obama got into the big chair, he spoke with governors and mayors on shovel ready jobs so we could get the country moving. Punkin head says that there is carnage but he does nothing for jobs. Wasn’t his claim to the drug addicts here that he was gonna bring on the jobs? Where the hell are they? Politics has everything to do with drug addiction, get jobs and no need to escape reality.

  25. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 17:56

If there was any doubt that Trump was not going to become more presidential and grow a thicker skin, it was confirmed today. Trump first condemned the media today for underestimating the number of supporters that were present for the inauguration. He made these statements in the shadow of the wall at the CIA with the stars representing the CIA personnel that have given their lives for our country. I don’t think he even acknowledged this important detail as he was whining about his favorite subject: himself.

Then, Trump marched his press secretary out on a Saturday just to lambaste the media for showing pictures with empty space on the national mall during the inauguration. Apparently, Trump is still on the campaign trail.

  26. Don Coyote 2017-01-21 17:58

@Jerry:”When Obama got into the big chair, he spoke with governors and mayors on shovel ready jobs so we could get the country moving.”

Except Obama admitted that was a load of bs:

“Shovel-ready was not as … uh .. shovel-ready as we expected.”

  27. jerry 2017-01-21 18:05

In the big towns here in South Dakota, there were shovel ready jobs. The courthouses, the highway projects, all kinds of state and federal government projects, got started. The first thing that happens as we age, is our memory. In your case, you are proof without doubt. Try again.

Do you think in the bugtussle you live in that there are not jobs that could be done to employ folks? Do you think that the county you reside in could not have some of its bridges replaced and repaired? How about completing the Wheat Growers dream of making rail service to western South Dakota a complete reality, like now.

  28. jerry 2017-01-21 18:09

Coyote, In South Dakota, Daugaard and Rounds ripped off taxpayers for 25 million bucks cash and pocketed it. The federal government gave South Dakota 25 million taxpayer dollars, all wrapped in those little papers that say “lots” around those Franklins. Those disappeared like EB5 money in the experienced hands of Rounds and Joop. That ain’t no joke either, that is how politics are played here, the dealer gets it all.

  29. Don Coyote 2017-01-21 18:09

@Dana P: “Question, though…..where does this “movement” go from here? Will it fall like a thud like Occupy Wallstreet did? I hope not.”

I predict it won’t fall like a thud but more like the sound of air escaping a balloon. Fweeee!

  30. jerry 2017-01-21 18:11

BTW, that 25 million is due to be paid back to Washington, in January 2017. Like Now!

  31. jerry 2017-01-21 18:13

Obviously Coyote, you are a single man with no hope for a date. No get in that cold shower dude.

  32. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 18:14

Coyote, is that the sound that Trump was making at the CIA today when he whined about his crowd coverage for the inaugural? I think he was feeling a little inadequate in comparison to the crowds of protesters around the world today.

  33. jerry 2017-01-21 18:28

What till the ladies hear that punkin head now wants to go back to Iraq for the oil he thinks is ours. Nothing makes women more proud than to have their sons and daughters get sent back into a meat grinder for oil. Hey, the only thing that he could do on this to make it even more putrid is to bring back the draft. Hearts and minds Coyote, hearts and minds.

  34. jerry 2017-01-21 18:44

Flynn Jr, is just like his comrade old man.

  35. caheidelberger Post author | 2017-01-21 21:41

Hold on: over a thousand people show up downtown in Rapid City on a January day, 3,300 people come to downtown Sioux Falls, for events that don’t involve beer or sports? When else do that many people show up for something in South Dakota?

  36. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 21:43

And people said that Trump was a divider, not a uniter. I’d say he united millions of people today.

  37. Don Coyote 2017-01-21 21:56

It was Krazy Dazes in Downtown SF. Just saying.

  38. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 22:10

Coyote, it’s the real Crazy Days in DC. The President cares more about how big his crowd was for the inauguration, than every other important issue confronting the country. The new administration’s first press briefing was to chastise the media for under selling the size of his crowd! The President of the US–the most powerful man in the world–has crowd envy like some tin horn dictator!

  39. Don Coyote 2017-01-21 22:31

@Darin Larson: Oh I thought we were talking about “official” (whatever that means) crowd estimates in DTSF. You might try looking for your Big Boy Shorts™ in your wife’s panties drawer.

  40. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 22:54

Coyote, don’t tell me you are as worried about the crowd size estimates as Trump is? Instead of focusing on the important issues facing our country, Trump is fixated on his vanity and narcissism and you are fixated on my wardrobe.

  41. Greg Deplorable 2017-01-21 22:56

They can march all they want, I don’t care. Good for them, most of them need the exercise.

  42. jerry 2017-01-21 23:07

Why bless your heart Mr. Deplorable, your significant other must be out on a date to have you bristle up so. Calm down son, a few more hours is all you will have to wait.

  43. Darin Larson 2017-01-21 23:08

Greg Deplorable, thanks for demonstrating the need for the marches. I see you take the job seriously of living up to your name. Hey, if the President can objectify women–why not you?

  44. Don Coyote 2017-01-21 23:27

@Jerry: “Obviously Coyote, you are a single man with no hope for a date. No get in that cold shower dude.”

Dating? Why would a married man (38 years) be concerned about dating? Obviously you don’t know jack about my life situation. Maybe you, Darin and Cory can take turns being the SGitR.

  45. jerry 2017-01-21 23:43

Love is blind coyote. There is a thing called Women’s Suffrage, but in your sainted wife’s case, that would be a woman’s suffering. You better take that bride of yours out to brunch tomorrow sir, get the chair for her and be grateful that she actually sticks with you.

  46. Don Coyote 2017-01-22 00:01

As I said you don’t know jack about my life situation.

Brunch is overrated. Tonight I grilled her NY Strip with Key lime shrimp for dinner. Tomorrow night is my awesome corned beef sandwiches with crab salad. Taking her to Florida for three weeks in February with a Valentine’s Day cruise to Key West. I know how to romance a woman. Don’t be a sad puppy if I don’t take your crappy “romance” advice

  47. jerry 2017-01-22 00:40

Suit yourself, but with talk like your making, you may have a cognitive issue going on.

  48. Mike Boswell 2017-01-22 01:03

Jerry I don’t need to escape from reality I can handle it just fine.

  49. Don Coyote 2017-01-22 01:04

Yowzaa! Using three syllable words. Careful, you might give somebody who cares the impression you know something.

  50. jerry 2017-01-22 01:37

Mr. Boswell, I am thinking you are confusing realty with reality. I think that you may handle realty as it is mostly dirt, but struggle with reality because it involves recognizing dirt. For that, I think you are lacking the ability to handle it. Now why don’t you and the coyote play chase the car. I am gonna get some shut eye.

  51. Mike Boswell 2017-01-22 01:50

Jerry You can be as insulting as you like, but again we know what opinions are “everyone has one”. While I may respond to you that doesn’t mean I am trying to convince you of anything. It is the others that read this, that may not be as shut off to other ideas. That’s what my message is about.

  52. mike from iowa 2017-01-22 07:08

Deplorable. without women you and your misogynistic friends would be flaming Gays and I apologize to all Gay people out there. No offense intended towards you.
