Avid Cyclist Votes on Bright, Clear November Day in Aberdeen

I biked down to the Brown County Courthouse to vote at 7:02 this morning. About 40 people were already in line front of me.

A lot of neighbors with crib notes, waiting to vote at 7:02 a.m. at the Brown County Courthouse, Aberdeen, South Dakota, Election Day, November 8, 2016.

County auditor Maxine Fischer had five check-in stations, 2 ballot hander-outers, and 20 booths and 8 seats with dividers at which to vote. I signed my affidavit, filled out my ballot, slid that sacred paper into the box under Donna’s watchful eye, and was back on the street by 7:17 a.m.

And the Brown County Courthouse was aglow with first light.

It’s a beautiful day. It’s a beautiful democracy. Go vote.

I printed out sample ballots from sos.sd.gov for all my employees a couple days ago – and NO, they weren’t filled out for them! ;-) I did encourage everyone to make a “cheat sheet” to expedite their votes, though. We all went in “shifts” this morning starting about 9:30am (I didn’t let them punch out – they got paid to go vote!) Not one of the 8 of us had to wait in line. Walked in, voted, walked out. Only took like 20 minutes each. Get ‘er done folks! Too much stuff to leave to chance or other peoples’ whims to sit this one out!

Remember- voting is like driving a car: to go forward press D. To go backward press R.

…of course, none of my employees work 7am-7pm, so I guess the law doesn’t actually apply? Either way, I’m a great guy. Believe me.

Crossgrain, you’re a good American and a good employer. Thanks for helping your employees vote!

Mike: “press D”? My car has an R and then a bunch of numbers… hmmm… suggesting the metaphor that you can go with Republicans who go with folks who pay attention to numbers and data when they make policy. :-D

Took out the garbage yesterday and voted for Hillary sad the electoral college means our votes mean nothing in our state and so many others. We must change to popular vote. Mistakenly I thought SD voters would see through Trump but Hillary has given many reasons to vote against her it’s a low point but we will survive it. On a positive note three 22 year-old college girls told me they could care less about gender when I asked if they would feel good about a female President. Only one was going to vote: Libertarian!

Mignon Mike, from the smaller part of Iowa, what is a Duckworth?
    I don’t know, what does a Henweigh?

A duck walks into a pharmacy and says, “Do you have any chapstick?” When the pharmacist hands it to him, the duck replies, “Thanks, just put it on my bill.”

Obama’s got higher rating now than Ronnie Raygun’s 2nd term.

Obama tried to unite the country he’s decent people get that but Congress today has a 20% approval rating in 1988 it was 42% he’s getting a lift by comparison to how bad they are, he’s proven the country needs much more than a spock-like college professor (or a born-again peanut farmer) people desire strong leadership for them Trump’s bombastic nature fit the bill.
