Aberdeen HS Democrats to Question Anti-Immigrant Speakers

The Aberdeen American News blandly reports the crypto-Klan meeting Trumpist BS artists Ron Branstner and Bob Enos will hold here in Aberdeen tomorrow night:

Ron Branstner, of Minnesota and California, who travels the country speaking about immigrants and refugees, is in Aberdeen on Thursday with an additional speaker, Bob Enos, of Willmar, Minn.

Branstner’s lecture will focus on the constitution and foreign law. Enos will talk about refugees in his hometown, which is about 200 miles east of Aberdeen [“Refugees, Immigrants Subjects of Thursday Meetings,” Aberdeen American News, 2016.09.21].

The Aberdeen High School Democrats make clearer what Branstner and Enos have in store for their audience Thursday night and how they plan to respond:

Bigotry, hatred, and pure ignorance doesn’t belong in our beautiful town of Aberdeen. We ask you to research the anti-immigrant problem at hand and bring detailed questions to our sit-in. We ask that you join the Aberdeen High School Democrats, no matter your political affiliation, to stand up against hatred in our community! [Aberdeen High School Democrats, details on Refugee Sit-in, retrieved from Facebook 2016.09.21]

The Aberdeen HS Dems list the time for their event as 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow evening, at the Eagles Lodge in Aberdeen. Perhaps the press will attend and ask Branstner and Enos about their bigotry, hatred, and ignorance as well… or just ask the Aberdeen HS Dems about the values that truly make America great.

When Gore Vidal called Buckley a cryto Nazi those days of debates were such a surprise rating coup the networks realized they should start producing more opinion style shows cause they were cheaper than hard news and brought in the ratings and cash. People that watch media see that as the downturn of real news, and look where we are now. Off to Breitbart.

So you Cory, as it appears, are the advisor to the high school democrats. I commend you for getting something started there…But(there is always a but) why are you encouraging taking underage people to a bar.

Young people who think and act like those in your story are a source a great pride and provide grounds for confidence in continued progress forward in the future.

    DR
Yes the Eagles have a bar, so do most pizza and hot wings restaurants.
Take the family to dinner at Chili’s, TGIF or any other family style restaurant and you are essentially taking them to a bar.

DR, yes, there always is a butt. It’s usually the person making assumptions.

The Aberdeen HS Dems, to the best of my knowledge, do not have an official adult advisor. I did not start them. Students started it; students lead it.

I have not encouraged any young people to go to a bar. I also did not encourage any young people to attend the crypto-Klan meeting. The Aberdeen HS Dems are choosing to host this event as a matter of conscience.

The crypto-Klan is holding a public meeting at the Eagles, as do the Brown County Democrats and other local organizations. As far as I know, these public meetings are open to young people.

So, DR, do you have any remaining points?

Wait until the Eagles add a wet bar/shooting range. Then watch the debates begin.

Roger C- have you been hiding from us? Been a littler lonely around here.

Sorry Cory, based on the photos and the posts to the page, I assumed you were the advisor…but hey I have been wrong before.
In fact, it doesn’t bother me about this sit it…Kinda cool actually…and I am one of the few republicans that think this guy is kind of a wack job and has people scared for no reason. Take for instance this weekend when the assault happened behind the Eagles, people immediately started sharing the meeting flyer. But hey, thanks for calling me an butt…or ass in this case!

Not hiding mike from iowa, simply sidelined for awhile with a vision problem, but I have been trying to keep up and am back now.
Deb said to tell you hello.
    And thanks for asking.

Thank you, Roger. Deb and I email frequently. Good to have you back.

This story just makes me feel so good, way deep down on the inside.

I was at a TGI Fridays about a month ago, and some guy had his 10-12 year old boys bellied-up to the bar and eating with him. I was a little shocked; I asked the wait staff about it, but apparently I was the weirdo on that one. Perfectly legal – no problem – until later hours. Heck, we trust 14 year olds to drive cars – IN TOWN EVEN – in South Dakota, so, ok then with the bar thing.

DR, any Republican who is willing to call Branstner a wack job and say he is scaring people for no reason gets bonus points in my book.

I do question the wisdom of having a potentially volatile meeting like this in a place where audience members can buy alcohol.

An assault at the Eagles? Who punched whom?

I almost got into an assault at the Eagles once. A morning drunk was approaching and speaking lewdly to a lady. I stood between the drunk and lady and told him to knock it off. Fortunately, no assault ensued.

Drunk idiots cause more harm in this country than refugees. There’s another irony in the siting of tonight’s meeting.

Also ironic: that Roger Cornelius would have any sort of vision problem. Roger, I’ve regularly found you to be very clear-sighted. 8-)
