Trump Follows Bosworth Campaign Plan, Illegally Solicits Foreign Money

Earlier this year, Ben Carson proved that he was Annette Bosworth with his sham campaign designed only to fleece vulnerable donors. Now Donald Trump assumes the Bosworth mantle, not only with a doomed non-campaign meant only to stoke his narcissism and funnel money to himself and his layabout family, but by soliciting illegal contributions from foreigners:

Members of parliament in the UK, Iceland, Canada and Australia have reported that they are being inundated on their official government emails accounts with fund-raising pleas from the Trump campaign – some from the candidate himself and others from his sons.

…On Tuesday Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale took to the floor of the House of Commons to complain about what he called “intemperate spam” from the Republican standard-bearer.

SNP MP Natalie McGarry tweeted a copy of an email signed by one of Donald Trump’s sons and offered her own, sharper reply.

“Given his rhetoric on migrants, refugees and immigration, it seems quite extraordinary that he would be asking foreign nationals for money; especially people who view his dangerous divisiveness with horror,” she wrote.

At least three Icelandic politicians have received emails condemning “crooked” Hillary Clinton and pledging to match any contributions to his campaign, according to Iceland Monitor.

Australian MP Tim Watts tweets that he has received at least four emails since Friday [Anthony Zurcher, “US Election: Trump’s emails to British MPs Cause Uproar,” BBC, 2016.06.30].

Annette Bosworth did the same thing during her publicity-stunt Senate campaign in 2014, soliciting and accepting overseas donations in blatant violation of U.S. election law. Bosworth was lucky no one filed a complaint against her illegal fundraising with the Federal Election Commission, like the one filed against Trump this week by the Campaign Legal Center and Democracy 21. The complaint calls on the FEC to fine the Trump campaign for its foreign solicitations. A more appropriate penalty would be to build a wall around Trump’s e-mail server and make him pay for it.

Update 09:43 CDT: Furthering the analogy, Trump has hired Bosworth’s former campaign manager Patrick Davis to run his Colorado campaign.

Trump just provided Hillary with the perfect come back to her email issue.

This doofus can’t be that ignorant of the laws of the United States,so it must be arrogance that pushes him along. Or maybe entitlement.

Any chance foreign pols took his requests out of context?

Trumpy McTrumpface is definitely taking a page from the Bosworth campaign playbook. Now that he has hired Bosworth campaign manager Patrick Davis as his Colorado director we should see more Bosworth tactics – or Colorado should. There’s one state Hillary should win.

You know, we haven’t seen much of Joel Arends lately. Shouldn’t he be finding a way to further profit off of Trump’s campaign before it flames out? Whatever happened to his astroturf veteran organization?

Remember that Hillary Clinton took credit card donations on her website from foreign nationals during her 2008 presidential campaign. Besides, with the Clinton Foundation/Clinton Global Initiative/etc. foreign “pay for play” currently brewing, she’d be a fool to choose campaign donations as the issue to attack Trump.

Comeback is not the same as attack

Pretty minor infractions compared to all the alleged crimes Crooked Hillary is accused of.

Trump clearly the better of the two. He will make America Great again.

Bernie was the best in the field however the voters did not see it that way

Supporting Trump over Hillary is like seeking out a prostitute because your wife went to a Chippendales show.

Remember the New Year’s Day dumbass dubya fought with and lost to a pretzel?

That was no ordinary pretzel, friends. It was a Sumo Pretzel ALLEGEDLY recruited by HRC to kill dumbass dubya so HRC could take over the WH.

It is being widely reported that Hillary was the shooter on the grassy knoll when Kennedy was assassinated.

It’s not as widely known but she was the one who kidnapped the Lindbergh baby.

    The media covered it up.

I always have to wonder about people who feel Trump will make America great again. Doesn’t that suggest that they feel America isn’t currently great? Yet these are the same people who will look you in the eye and tell you they feel America is the greatest country on Earth.

I suppose they are about as consistent as Trump himself. After all, he is the guy who hired hundreds of illegals to work on one of his buildings while now complaining about illegal immigrants. He is the guy who had all of his “Trump Signature Collection” shirts and neckties made overseas while complaining about free trade and a loss of American jobs. He is the guy who has had numerous companies go bankrupt while complaining that others lack his extensive leadership skills. And of course he is the guy who accuses others of being dishonest or being crooked when he is soliciting funds from foreigners, lying about his charitable contributions, and lying about his personal wealth.

The most honest thing about Trump is his hair.

I dont think Democrats really need to worry…course they can pretend to worry about Trump – exciting the base is always a good idea. But the reality of the situation is Hillary will get around 400 electoral college votes. She runs away with this.

The reasons are quite simple… Fox News and Talk Radio cannot win the election for trump. All the shows shilling for Trump actually hurts him in the General Election. Fox New’s support of Trump actually hurts him. All the disillusioned republicans that support him need to realize that if everything they say and think about Hillary is true why hasn’t it mattered or impeded her progress up to now, then how would it ever impede her progress going into the future. Finally, imagine Trump flying around in his 727 or whatever talkinga bout how great he is, how much money he makes and all the beautiful women he beds how will that win an election?

  15. Darin Larson 2016-07-01 19:38

“The most honest thing about Trump is his hair.” That is a good one. Craig, is that your line? I want to know because I’m going to borrow it.

Exactly daleb, with that 6 point cushion, she is really running circles around the Don. Nothing to see here, she has it man. 5 months away from the dance and 6 points, what could go wrong? Maybe we can do a do over like Austria is gonna do to try to bring in the right wing feller that damned near won the first election. Their supreme court says they must do a do over. I will have to check my history book because somewhere I remember what happened in Austria all of those years ago that was not pleasant.

Democrats better get serious and start pulling their collective heads out of their nether regions. Build a super progressive platform and get those 400 electoral college votes or they will end up being grammar votes that go to the red side.

Foreign Policy journalist Valentina Pasquali pointed out that, like Trump, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi mercilessly trashed the media, the judiciary, and political parties. The upshot: During his time in office, voter-turnout rates and public trust in Italian institutions plummeted. “Today,” Pasquali wrote, “Italy’s voters remain as apathetic and embittered as ever.”

In democratic systems, this deep distrust of government is corrosive. For democracies to function properly, the German journalist Henrik Müller recently wrote, there must be “enough common values that [people] trust their institutions, that majorities and minorities respect one another, and that everyone generally deals fairly with one another.”

Patrick Davis has denied allegations that he inappropriately steered hundreds of thousands of dollars raised by a conservative PAC to organizations linked to himself and his friends. Now he’ll lead Trump’s campaign in a key swing state, COLORADO.

Bosworth for VP. She is a good example of an outsider like Trump, and wouldn’t be fun to make Rounds have to support the ticket?

I tremble at the possibility, MJL. She did demonstrate herself to be a better fundraiser than Trump.

Drumpf’s tweet yesterday showing HRC, a pile of money with a red star of David on the money and claiming HRC is the most corrupt pol was removed after critics saw it. However, that same tweet was posted on a forum for white supremacists/KKK types a week ago.
But, Drumpf is not a racist.

Daleb, that’s an interesting survey! It says Clinton is stronger right now that Obama was at the same point in 2008 and 2012. Also interesting: Trump is winning the white non-Hispanic vote at the moment 51–42, but Clinton is winning the overall vote by the same numbers.

Trump’s strongest support is among old white men. Strangely, while Trump performs poorly among women, he performs better among married men than among non-married men. Shouldn’t those married men be having their views tempered by their wives? Ah, but interestingly, Trump also performs better (though still losing) among married women than among unmarried women.
