Bosworth Still Able to Pay for Foreign Trips

Convicted felon Annette Bosworth is scheduled to receive her sentence at the Hughes County Courthouse next week. Bosworth’s twelve Class 6 felony counts carry a total maximum sentence of 24 years in prison and a maximum fine of $48,000. Prosecutors have said since the guilty verdict on May 27 that they do not expect Judge John Brown to issue anything close to the maximum sentence.

However, if you faced the possibility of a stiff fine, if you believed you had to close your business due to your felony conviction, if your other main revenue stream had dried up, if your spouse still had no real job, and if you knew that your felony conviction made it hard to get another job, you’d probably keep a tight grip on your purse strings, right?

Evidently Bosworth and her husband Chad Haber are in no such tight financial situation:

An eager readers sends the above Facebook posts indicating that Bosworth and Haber are sitting on enough cash to send two of their children on overseas trips. Bosworth can’t go with, since Judge John Brown is still holding her passport, but other members of her family can scout out foreign getaways.

Flights from Sioux Falls to Oslo are more than $2,000. The cheapest ticket from here to San Jose, Costa Rica, is just under $800. I can’t speak to the cost of specific camps or tours in Norway and Costa Rica, but I suspect they cost more than Art Camp at the Granary.

Peter Waldron says Bosworth’s life may depend on sharing his absurd videos, but her spending on foreign trips indicates her livelihood is in no danger.

p.s.: Bosworth dupes continue to seek smokescreens for their idol’s failings, complaining that Attorney General Marty Jackley isn’t investigating Steve Hickey’s alleged 2012 petition missteps as avidly as he investigated Bosworth’s now proven 2014 petition perjury. AG Jackley says there’s a difference:

Jackley said his office received complaints directly from former Secretary of State Jason Gant regarding Bosworth and Walker. The complaints in the Bosworth case also included sworn affidavits. The Hickey complaint, however, consists of a letter and newspaper article, which aren’t as reliable as evidence.

“I would consider a formal complaint something evidentiary that I can rely on,” Jackley said [link added; Jonathan Ellis, “Bosworth Backers Upset at Inaction on Hickey Complaint,” that Sioux Falls paper, 2015.06.25].

As I noted when Ellis first posted on the allegations against Hickey, the evidence in Hickey’s case is so far much thinner than what AG Jackley and the DCI had to go on when I brought Bosworth’s perjury to light in April 2014.

I don’t suppose any of those trips were pre-arranged.

Cory, I’m not sure anyone appreciates you and what you do with Dakota Free Press more than I do. But really, you exposed her. She got prosecuted and convicted. She’s going to have a chance to make it right. Isn’t there something new you can move on to? Some days your posts look like the Chinese Buffet King’s over at the fake blog site -hateful and vindictive.

If you intend them to look like this, that’s fine. It’s just that the rest of the stuff you do here is consistently very good.

By the way, is it true that Rep Hickey has the same basic issues on some of his nominating petitions?

Dick Wadhams, Joel Arends, Joop and his bride will be joining them for cocktails, no doubt.

It is sad that Mr. Haber would abandon his wife just before she is about to get sentenced by the judge. I do hope she has people there to support her and help her through the ordeal.

Bosworth committed more crimes than wingnuts ever found with Benghazi and yet the quest for any morsel they can pin on Obie and HRC continues. Bosworth is news because she goes from one lie to another as each one is exposed. If she would accept responsibility and keep her yap shut, this would be a non-story tomorrow. Fat chance of that ever happening.

Until she is sentenced and has done everything to abide by her sentence, she is news. If there is one article out there that someone reads and changes their mind about her, that is success. The only reason people have any idea of how awful her behavior was is due to exposure. A true narcissist will never understand as they always feel victimized. Not sure we can do anything to help her but if some uneducated person is thinking of joining her support army or giving her money, they need to know and understand who she is.

I’m not sure I understand why Bosworth’s kids are targets here. Are the sins of the parents visited on the children?

  7. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-06-26 18:11

Bearcreekbat and RWB, I’m not targeting her children. I’m pointing out that her pleas for sympathy and the suggestion that next week’s sentencing may ruin her seem unsupported by her actions. Sending children overseas is expensive. I question the financial wisdom of doing so.

  8. Paula 2015-06-26 18:27

CH, how do you know the kids’ grandparents didn’t pay for the trips? I think the kids should be off-limits and you should be above plastering their photos in your blog here.

  9. Lora Hubbel 2015-06-26 18:30

I just sent MJ a sworn affidavit today…so you can’t use that excuse anymore

  10. Lynn 2015-06-26 20:17

    Lora,

Regarding the subject of petitions do you know who is involved with the checking into Tara Volesky’s petitions that she admitted on the old Madville Blog as to not witnessing? Whomever these folks are that will be a lot petitions with all the campaigns she was involved with.

  11. Douglas Wiken 2015-06-26 21:52

I thought they took her passport, but maybe I am mistaken about that?

  12. Curt 2015-06-27 00:26

Jeez, Doug … keep up or just don’t click ‘send’.

  13. Lars Aanning 2015-06-27 03:11

Yes…keep it coming…you say “convicted felon” with deserved pride…congratulations to all of you who worked so hard to trip up Dr. Bosworth…kudos for your “Mission Accomplished!”…

  14. mike from iowa 2015-06-27 06:25

L A- if you truly gave a s— about the doctor, maybe you’d should get her the help she so desperately needs to correct he behavior. Unless and until then, you are not her friend-you are just another enabler,an accomplice,as it were. The main thing is Bosworth is not the victim here.

  15. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-06-27 07:40

Lars, I will continue to use that accurate and relevant descriptor as a counter to the false descriptor Bosworth and her hangers-on use to trick people into sending her money.

  16. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-06-27 07:40

Doug, you are correct: the judge is holding her passport at least until sentencing.

  17. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-06-27 07:42

Lora, interesting! Can you send me a copy of that affidavit? We’d love to read it.

Paula, you make the same mistake as BCB and others. I’m not attacking the kids. I’m questioning the parents’ judgment and using materials the parents have posted. No foul here. And indeed, I would like to know what source of funds allows such luxuries for a family with no apparent income stream.

  18. Roger Cornelius 2015-06-27 14:39

When politicians put their children in the spotlight on Facebook or use them in their campaigns, they subject their children to any and all criticism.

Politicians that provide limited public exposure to their children usually don’t much to be concerned about.

If you don’t want your children talked about, don’t expose them to the public glare, it is one of the first principals of running a campaign

  19. Owen 2015-06-28 11:56

I’ve been reading the insane rants supporting Bosworth but the dumbest one us the one saying it’s the Democrats fault for not supporting her.
Where in the hell are the Republicans?
Of course you can’t talk to them about or as in one case they make threats.
    A lot of stupid there.

  20. Roger Cornelius 2015-06-28 16:41

    Owen,

Notice that I did not use any names in the post of above yours, but the village idiots assumed I was talking about a convicted felon we all know.

Even if convicted felon is not running for office, they remain a public figure for pretty much forever.

  21. owen 2015-06-28 17:58

You’re right Roger. What’s amazing is they blame everybody for Bosworth’s problems except Bosworth.

  22. leslie 2015-07-02 23:28

i am sure rwb is happy, but i would like to take this opportunity to ask: “where is cory’s article on the boz sentencing?”- not that i care. i celebrate this quiet moment :)

  23. Curt 2015-07-03 23:01

It was called to my attention today that one of AG Jackley’s comments re: the Bosworth case was to the effect that in SD we take election laws very seriously and that’s why Annette was charged with 3 felonies. Does anyone else recall the circumstances of Brian Gosch’s 2012 election law irregularities and the AG’s refusal to take those transgressions “very seriously”? I certainly do not suggest that the Bosworth incident should have been ignored, but prosecutorial discretion can be kinda dangerous when one person has such unchecked power. Especially that guy.

  24. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-07-04 06:33

The Gosch 2012 case also hangs around Jason Gant’s neck. Gant refused to take action; he also likely refused to pass any complaint on to the AG’s office.
