Lead Mayor Apa to Speak on Referenda at Rapid City Event Wednesday May 27

The program for the public informational session on the petition drives to refer SB 69 and SB 177 just got more interesting:

Public information session, statewide referenda, SB 69 and SB 177, Rapid City, May 27, 2015

Joining the spectrum-spanning roster speaking on our desire to hold public votes on the youth minimum wage and the Incumbent Protection Program is Jerry Apa, mayor of Lead and former Republican legislator.  At the end of this year’s Session, Mayor Apa criticized the Republican leadership for “disregarding the voter’s [sic] directive on the minimum wage” and for “trying to subvert the initiative process” (a reference to Senator Corey Brown’s failed SB 166).

Whatever your political persuasion, SB 69 and SB 177 take away your liberty. Both are efforts to discourage voters from making decisions about laws and lawmakers at the ballot box. Both are worth talking about Wednesday evening with Jerry Apa, Gordon Howie, Dean Kurtz, and John Tsitrian. And both are worth putting to a public vote. Join the fun Wednesday, May 27, 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the downtown Rapid City Public Library!

I’m guessing Apa likes both bills. Is that correct?

It should not matter what political party or what your political persuasion is as long as they support these two referendums.
We Democrats are noted for our inclusive politics, we welcome all into our fold.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog’s back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

i’ve know jerry apa for 35 years: he doesn’t have an honorable bone…anywhere.

I believe Jerry Apa supports the referral efforts on both bills.

I believe Lee is correct. If you want to make sure, come to Rapid City Wednesday and ask Apa himself!

I suspect we could review our petitions and find all sorts of signers about whom we could uncover dishonorable behavior. Does anything Larry says about Apa, libelous or literary, change the truth of what Apa said about the failings of the SDGOP in his March letter to the editor (quoted and linked above)?

As I circulate petitions, I find that shouting “You’re a jerk!” doesn’t win over many singers or volunteers.

catholics in the legislature, les? how is that separation of church and state especially when they protect their sect from lawsuits? apa is a hypocrite: it’s just that simple.

Hypocrites we all are in one area or another, Lar.

Deadwood subsidizes Lead, Les: just like Uncle Sam subsidizes Pierre. Conservative means never having to tell the truth.

    I swear.

  11. Les 2015-05-23 09:31

Lead has subsidized Deadwood for many decades longer and with a much more visible process than as you state, Larry.

Jerry Apa has more ability and value structure than most in Pierre and I would bet my last dollar he wouldn’t have had the failings of EB Mike.

The meeting will be an interesting mix, some of the potential it will take to put Brown and others of his ilk where they belong.

Imagine someone reminding this foursome that Homestake unions preserved much of Lawrence County and organizing the service workers in the Hills, especially in Deadwood (many of them H2-A and H2-B immigrants), would improve customer service and worker retention.

Les, you know this is just the beginning of my plot to get you and Apa to run for Governor/Lt. Gov.

  14. Les 2015-05-23 10:13

    Good luck, Cory.

How many times have you shouted “you’re a jerk,” Mr. H? Hundreds, I imagine.
