Aberdeen Online Poll Shows Strong Majority Opposes Youth Minimum Wage

The Aberdeen American News posts some encouragement for South Dakotans who want to refer the new youth minimum wage to a public vote:

Aberdeen American News, unscientific online poll on youth minimum wage, 2015.03.28, p. 6A
Aberdeen American News, unscientific online poll on youth minimum wage, 2015.03.28, p. 6A.

The paper’s unscientific poll gets 61% of respondents to say that paying teenagers less for their labor than adults, not to mention unraveling a couple threads of the voters’ will, is a bad idea.

Let’s see… 61% of 202 clicks… 123 people… that’s six full petition sheets and the start of a seventh. Get each of those respondents to round up ten friends to sign, and we’ve got about 10% of the minimum signature count, just from readers of the Aberdeen daily and neighbors of District 3 Senator David Novstrup, who brought us this bad legislation.

Stay tuned for the petition copies and circulation details, coming up later this weekend!
